In addition to heading Chesapeake Research Review, Inc., in early 2003, Dr. Gyi was appointed to the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services’ Human Research Protections Advisory Committee (SACHRP).
For twenty years, Dr. Gyi has provided consultation and professional development as well as managed research units, IRBs, and projects in both private and academic sectors. He has worked internationally, traveling and living abroad as well. Throughout his professional career, Dr. Gyi has also served on university faculty.
He is a frequent chair, speaker, moderator, or panelist at forums ranging from national professional conferences to Investigator Meetings. Dr. Gyi is co-author of the book Ethics of the Use of Human Subjects In Research and chapters in other books as well as articles in such publications as DIA Journal and Applied Clinical Trials. He serves as an Editorial Advisor of the Clinical Trials Advisor.
Dr. Gyi received the Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Duquesne University; and the M.B.A. (Executive Program) from Loyola (MD) College. He was the first independent IRB representative to be certified as an IRB professional by the Council for Certification of IRB/IEC Professionals, Applied Research Ethics National Association (ARENA).
The company he founded in 1993 has been named to the Fast 50 or Fast 500 (a program sponsored by Deloitte & Touche) eight times; and has also received the Blue Chip Enterprise Award (sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce).
MANAGEMENT TEAM
Jeffrey Wendel, MBA, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, has over 20 years of executive leadership experience providing consulting and systems integration services to Global 500 companies in the pharmaceutical, financial services and high technology industries. He has served as president of a systems integration group following a successful IPO, has led an international business unit focused on simulation software modeling, and established a government services division supporting US and international agencies. Jeff earned a B.S. in Systems Engineering from the US Naval Academy and an MBA from Loyola College.
Lauri Carlile, MSCI, CIP, Executive Director of Operations, has ten years experience in the clinical and biomedical research fields. Prior to joining Chesapeake IRB, Lauri was with Partners HealthCare System where she served as a Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement Specialist, Senior Human Research Review and Compliance Specialist and Administrative Chair for Partners’ IRBs. Lauri was also a member of Massachusetts General Hospital’s IRB. She has earned a Master’s of Science degree in Clinical Investigation and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Biological Sciences. Lauri is a Certified IRB Professional (CIP) and is a member of Public Responsibility in Medicine & Research/Applied Research Ethics National Association (PRIM&R/ARENA).
